Lórien is a multidisciplinary movement artist and filmmaker currently based in Birmingham and London. They graduated from Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2023 working with Northern Rascals and Rhiannon Faith. They then completed an MA in dance performance at London Contemporary Dance School working with Hannes Langoff and Jenna Jalonen.
Their movement practice seeks to incorporate a variety of different mediums and inspirations including, improvisational scores, physical theatre and breakdance. Central to their approach is the use of improvisation, which is deeply rooted in task-oriented and somatic-based practices. Their intention is to cultivate an environment that encourages playfulness while maintaining a sense of power and control. These exercises are designed to push the boundaries of the body’s habitual patterns, fostering a sense of exploration and spontaneity.
Their choreographic practice aims to either tell a compelling and driven narrative within the mediums of spoken word, character work and movement, or convey a more somatic message which delves into the internal feeling of the body and the connections we can share without speaking a single word.
